Lutein Plus Product Description: Lutein and zeaxanthin are two closely-related carotenoids, sister compounds to beta carotene. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in plant leaves, and are especially rich in spinach, kale and green leafy vegetables. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found throughout the body, but they are concentrated in the retina of the eye. The part of the retina that receives the most light (directly opposite the pupil) is called the macula. Lutein and zeaxanthin localize in the macular region of the retina, and are called Macular Pigment.
